In a fit of procrastination, I started and finished the recently aired c-drama, 摧残人生 or Shining Days. In the midst of watching, a friend asked me to grab lunch, which I readily turned down because come on, there are like, a billion episodes left! It's one of those shows, you know, that's ridiculously bad, clichéd, and meaningless, but that you have to watch to the very end to make sure the bad guys get what they deserve...or something like that.

Since c-dramas don't seem in fashion these days (I know y'all are watching kdramas), a brief recap:

A woman scorned switches her infant daughter with that of her evil love rival and ex-fiancé, setting the stage for a classic tale of princess and the pauper. The two girls grow up, one rich (Ye Lin) one poor (Yu Fei), and they invariably fall for the same wealthy, handsome prince of man (Zhang He Fan, starring Peter Ho, who to his credit managed to look less swarthy and gross than usual). The contest for love leads to the identity reveal and reverse switch of the girls, which transitions the story from a Cinderella-style romance into that age-old battle for family fortune. There are tears, murders, kidnaps, sex--all in 80 short episodes!
